Rev. Warren G. Rivenbark Sr., was born on June 14, 1926, in Pender County to Eugene and Daisy Bowen Rivenbark and fell asleep in the Lord on September 4, 2016, at the age of 90. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 66 years, Mildred Pierce Rivenbark; two sons – Warren Jr. (Wreen) and his wife, Janet, and Chris; two granddaughters – Ashley and Caitlin; two sisters – Eloise Wood and her husband, Alton, Marshalean and her husband, James; three brothers – Gene, Jack and his wife, Lois, and Mickey and his wife, Tama; and a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Alfred and Harrison.
Rev. Rivenbark was a veteran and worked for 20 years with the Atlantic Coastline Railroad. He served our Lord for more than 60 years, pastoring churches in North Carolina and Florida. In addition, he served for 10 years as Superintendent of the Southern Region and was instrumental in starting three churches.
A celebration of his life was held at United Christian Fellowship in Wallace, N.C., on September 7 at 12 noon with many of his fellow pastors in attendance. The graveside service with military honors was held at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, N.C., at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Adrian Shepard officiating.
Truly, here is a servant of the Lord that one day will hear those words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
