Roberta E. (Chamberlain) Taylor

Roberta E. Taylor of York Me. passed away peacefully on Saturday August 13, 2022, surrounded by her family. Roberta was born August 11, 1922, to Bennie and Mable Chamberlain in Hyde Park, Vermont.

She was married to Madison R., (deceased) for 48 years and have 4 children,

Sherry A. Boyd, husband Gary, Sandra J. Mutchler (deceased) husband Gary, Donald M. Taylor, wife Kathryn, Dana R. Taylor, wife Lisa, and  6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Roberta graduated from New England School of Theology Boston and taught elementary school. Her first job teaching was in a 2-room schoolhouse, teaching 3rd and 4th grade. She later taught at various schools in Stockbridge MA, Barrington, RI, and two Christian Academy’s in New Hampshire and Maine.

Roberta enjoyed playing hymns on the piano, was an excellent baker and was known for her Buttermilk Biscuits. Her strong Christian faith kept her busy with various church ministries including teaching Sunday school and working in the church nursery. She loved her family beyond measure, and together with Madison created a home that was filled with kindness, faith, and love. She selflessly served others, and welcomed countless students, friends, and neighbors with a warm meal and a kind generous heart.

Roberta’s family wish to thank the staff at Durgin Pines for their kind, loving and caring support during her time with them.

Service:

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 1pm, York Street Baptist Church, York, Maine followed by a reception at the church
