Whereas it is recorded in Genesis 2:22, 24 that “God formed woman from the rib of man and brought her to the man, and for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” and, Whereas we as a denomination have held to the Biblical mandate for marriage as a partnership between one man and one woman and, Whereas a time is coming when our Pastors will be approached by same sex couples to be united in marriage in various states in our union that have legalized marriage between same sex couples, and, Whereas the Apostle Paul wrote to Pastor Timothy in I Timothy 4:16 “Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

Be It resolved that we pass this resolution on to our ordaining and licensing bodies across our denomination to give our Pastors the support from the Advent Christian General Conference based on our Biblical teaching on heterosexual marriages to abstain from performing same sex marriages and,

Be It Further Resolved that we encourage our churches to reach out in Christian love to those in un-Biblical relationships with the life-changing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
