MAINE – Every church has those special days of blessing from the Lord. The Lord chose to enrich our lives on Sunday, July 16, 2023 as we shared in the baptism of 17 people in the cool ocean waters that surround our little town. We witnessed the baptisms of 10 youth group members, four pre-teens and three adults. Each shared their testimonies and celebrated Christ’s love for them and their sincere faith in him.

Youth pastor Justin Perkins has taught and encouraged the youth to trust in Jesus and commit their lives to serve him. That time in his Word brought them to the decision to be baptized. And when their intentions were announced, the others chose to join them from their own desire to do the same.

Pastor Perkins baptized 12 of the youth, as well as the mom of one boy. This also included his own daughter, Aurora (which, as a dad, he saw as a great privilege and blessing). Former youth pastor James Havener baptized his niece, Grace Havener, by her request. Pastor Alan Chamberlin baptized two adults and one of the younger girls. Some of the youth, who are part of the youth group and do not attend our church services, testified that coming to our nursery school and Kids Klub, in their earlier years, played an important part to lead them to trust in Jesus as their Savior. This was of great encouragement to those who faithfully lead these ministries.

It was a truly joyous day for all of us as we witnessed the baptism of 17 people saved by God’s grace in Jesus Christ. One interesting note about the day — Just a few miles to our west heavy rain was causing flash flood warnings and we had had several downpours before church services that morning. From 11 AM, when we began the baptisms, until 2:30 PM when folks were leaving our church picnic, we had no rain. It came just a few minutes later as folks were heading home. We had prayed for a favorable window of weather, and the Lord included that in the blessing of the day. We hope you rejoice with us and that the Lord brings the same blessings to you before he comes for us.
