State of Ministry to Women Study Results

Lifeway Research conducted a study involving more than 1,000 female churchgoers and 842 female ministry leaders in the United States with the goal of assessing the state of women’s ministry. The results of that survey were released last month. This survey covers many aspects of ministry to women including the functions of a women’s ministry, who attends, ministry staff, what the church offers, what women want from a women’s ministry and so much more. Overall, the results show that women’s ministry is valuable to the women and to the ministry of the church. Some of the key takeaways are that women desire a women’s ministry that can help them grow in their relationship with Christ and are showing up to events that focus on that. Also, most women’s ministry leaders feel valued and supported by their church and pastors. Another insight that most of us are already aware of is that the average ages of women who regularly attend these ministries are 41-70, so that is an area that we can work on improving as we work to incorporate younger women.
