Priscilla Marie (Gedney) Taber

Priscilla Marie (Gedney) Taber fell asleep in Jesus on August 18, 2016. She was born on July 13, 1935 to Edwin Kemble Gedney and Dorris Mae (Clough) Gedney. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Clinton E. Taber. Together they had four children, Rebecca (Taber) Nicoll and her husband James of Easthampton, MA. Deborah (Taber) Donnelly and her husband Sean of Snow Camp, NC.  Susan (Taber) Fournier of Portland, ME. Jon Taber and his wife Laura of Alton Bay, NH. She had a great love and enjoyed all 10 of their Grandchildren: Becky’s children, Jennie and Katie; Debbie’s children, Meghan and Mikaela, Susan’s children, Michael (predeceased in March of this year), Joseph, and Nicholas, and Jon’s children, Benjamin, Peter and Samuel. She is also blessed with two Great-Grandchildren; Jon (Jack) and Abigail – Jennie’s children.

She is survived also by two Siblings: Robert Gedney and Cynthia (Gedney) Bostock. She is predeceased by brother Donald C. Gedney and Barbara L. (Gedney) Schaeffner, and she was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Her greatest achievement in life was being that of Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.

She was a faithful and loving Pastor’s wife, and extended care and love to each person that she met. Her sense of humor was contagious and she loved having a good time. Whether working in the Church or in her home with her children, she enjoyed life and loved Jesus; and that was evident to all who knew her.

She was an accomplished Church Organist and pianist for many years in the early part of their pastorates and played with feeling and spirit.

She had a strong and beautiful alto voice, and would sing anytime someone started a song. Her favorites would be the hymns of the Church. Her voice will be missed.

Many times she had wished she had a college degree, but her father in his great wisdom knew that because she was so very social, a college career was probably not going to work. Yet she was one of the wisest women in counsel. Her gifts would include the gift of Hospitality, always opening her home to a person in need. She had the gift of loving a person where they are. There was a no judgment zone when talking with her, yet she would always point you to the cross. She would make whomever she was talking with feel so worthwhile and loved; it was a true gift in her heart. She had wisdom and understanding and expressed that to her family often in phone calls, and she believed in the power of Prayer! She was praying for people all of the time, and would often just pray right there with you. And she loved reading the word of God. The pages of the Bible would pop out at her and she would highlight verses to share the next time she talked with a grandchild. She had a true passion to express to her children and grandchildren the word of God, and to encourage Spiritual Development within her immediate and extended family members. The most important thing to her was the salvation of her family and friends!

People were important to her, no matter their station in life; where they had come from, or what they may have done. Her main concern was where were they going? Would they be ready to meet Jesus?

When she closed her phone conversations with her family, she would say “I love you and leave you in the loving care of our precious Heavenly Father.”

She knew how to make anyone feel special and filled with promise. Today we Love her and Leave her in the loving care of our precious Heavenly Father. She was a dearly loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
