Rev. George Roger Teshera

Rev. Teshera slipped peacefully into sleep awaiting the coming of the Lord Jesus on May 31, 2014. George was born Nov. 5, 1925 in Bellingham, WA to Art and Etta (Dahl) Teshera. In 1943 he enrolled in the United States Maritime Service in Seattle, WA and served as a Merchant Marine on the Liberty ships in the Pacific Theater. From 1946 to 1948, George served with distinction in the US Army in occupied Japan. As one of his many duties he daily baked and delivered a fresh loaf of bread to General MacArthur. On Easter Sunday 1951, George committed his life to the Lord Jesus and was baptized April 15. He married his beloved bride, Beverly Ehle, Aug. 31, 1951. After graduating from New England School of Theology in 1955, George and Beverly, with their sons Roger and Kris, traveled to California where they pastured two churches. In 1963, they accepted the call to serve as missionaries to the Philippines where daughter Annie was born. George founded Oro Bible College and became its first director in 1972. In 1979 George pastured in New Hampshire and from 1981 to 1990 pastored in Lynwood, WA. 1994 to 2002 George served as Asia Pacific Area Director for the Advent Christian Missions. He spent his remaining years as Pastor of Missions at Fountain Community Church in Bellingham, WA. George was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert, James, and Lee. He is survived by his beloved Beverly; sons Roger (Wendy), Kris (Jennifern) and daughter Annie (Jim) Glass; former daughter-in-law Sabine Teshera; grandchildren Samantha, Stephanie, Heather, Jamieson and Ian; sisters Barbara Elsner and Shirley Gunter; cousins Nancy and Mary; many nieces and nephews and many spiritual sons and daughters. A graveside service will be held on Monday June 9, at 10:00am at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. A memorial service and reception will follow at 11:30am at Fountain Community Church, 2100 Broadway St. in Bellingham Memorial donations can be made to the Fountain Community Church in George’s name. Funds will be designated for World Missions.
