The Rev. Robert Louis “Bobby” Wilmoth, 81, of Charleston, passed away Aug. 3, 2014, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was born May 21, 1933, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of Robert Lee and Gladys Wood Wilmoth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Euel Lee and Vernon Wilmoth.
Bobby was a former contract driver for the U.S. Postal Service as well as an Advent Christian minister with 55 years of service to churches including Creston, Ohio, Henryville, Ind., R.C. Elmore, First and Faith Advent Christian Churches in Charleston.
Bobby was a decorated Korean War veteran, enlisting in the Army at the age of 17, who proudly served his country for three years. After moving to Charleston he was active in the Charleston Job Corps, president of the Charleston Ministerial and chaplain for the Charleston area hospitals and other organizations.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart with almost 62 years of marriage, Frankie Lucille Wilmoth; daughters, Diana Graham (Homer) and Vicky Sizemore (John); son, Stephen Wilmoth, all of Charleston; granddaughters, Alysia Sigman, Krista Wilmoth and Ashley (Erik) Strock; sisters, Phyllis Noe and Mary Baker; brother, Larry Wilmoth; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Dayton Reynolds and the Rev. Sandy Burdette officiating. Burial followed in Moore Fork Cemetery, Big Otter, with an open gathering of family and friends held at Big Otter Community Center immediately following burial.
