Young People Saved in Business Meeting in Liberia

By Bryce Whiting

LIBERIA – December is annual meeting time for some of our African conferences. Interestingly, ministry, teaching, worship and fellowship receive more attention than the business sessions. In Liberia, the convention was held in District #3B Grand Bassa County at the Dowin AC Church. Visitors were invited to come and hear the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. After the meetings, they held discussion groups to further clarify the message. It was during these discussions when some young people decided that if this God loved them so much, that this would be the God they would serve. They were immediately baptized and received into the body of Christ.

Another highlight included new books and study materials. Our WHFMS (stateside) held a Christmas in October event whereby each pastor was granted a monetary gift. The conference in Liberia chose to use that gift to purchase books for pastors written in the native tongue of Bassa. Each day of the convention they were taught from the materials concerning group prayer, evangelism and preaching. Once having learned from the materials they were allowed to take them home and to instruct others from them. Their thanks go out to the WHFMS for this generous gift.
