Whereas the President’s Crime Commission reveals that intoxicated drivers kill twice as many people as are slain by all murders, and

Whereas, in the United States, drivers under the influence of alcohol and drunken drivers kill over 25,000 persons each year and injure 266,000 others, and

Whereas some European countries have enforced serious sanctions against driving while intoxicated and these have resulted in sharp drops in motor vehicle fatalities,

Be it Resolved that the Advent Christian General Conference go on record as urging   Advent Christians to recommend to our local, state, and federal governments that stronger measures be taken against the drivers under the influence of alcohol and drunken drivers.
