Alma Elizabeth Lampard, 91, of Torrington, fell asleep in her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 2, 2017. She was born in Hartford, Conn. on May 22, 1925 daughter to the late George F. and Clara L. (Maynard) Johnson Sr.
While attending the New England School of Theology, she met her husband, Charles Lampard. They were married on June 17, 1948 and for 63 years they served the Lord together. Charles pastored in several Advent Christian Churches, including Penfield, N.Y., New Bedford, Mass., Peacedale, R.I., Massena, N.Y., and Bristol, Conn. Alma was a dedicated pastor’s wife who loved her Lord and faithfully served by her husband’s side. During their years of ministry, Alma served in the Ladies Mission Society, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and loved on many people.
Her love for children led to her to babysit and work in daycare for many years. She was a registered member of the Girl Scouts and enjoyed camping and leading a troop. Alma was the ultimate hostess and there was always someone invited to her home for Sunday dinner. Always gracious, she welcomed everyone into her home with open arms.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Nancy Sylvester and her husband, Phillip, of Windsor; her daughter, Dianne Hart and her husband, Walter, of Torrington; her son, Stephen Lampard and his wife, Cindy, of Oceanside, Calif.; her eight grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren (and was expecting a fourth); her brother, George F. Johnson, Jr., of Newington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, the Rev. Charles Lampard, she was predeceased by her sisters, Eleanor Hurley and Birtise Martin.
A Celebration of Alma’s life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11 AM at the Advent Christian Church, 217 New Harwinton Road, Torrington, CT 06790. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
