Dear Brother Bryce [Whiting],
Praise the Lord!
It was on Monday, June 23 when my wife walked to our garden located 3km from home. Around noon I received a call from her asking for a ride home. I left my meal on the table and rushed to pick her up.
On the return trip my wife told me a very touching story about an 81-year-old granny whom she had seen sitting in a poorly constructed shelter. My heart was touched, and I insisted that we meet this granny. We went straight to her home and saw her impoverished condition. I greeted her and her response was, “My son it is better for me to die than to live.” I encouraged her that Jesus loves her.
Rose Diva is her name. She told us that she lives with her only grandson named Gift Orasiyo. The parents of Gift passed away when he was 9. He dropped out of school, not finishing the fifth grade, to help support his grandmother. During this visit he was away seeking work so that he could feed his grandmother. Gift is now 15.
After chatting with her we left, promising to return. We put together a box of groceries and returned to find the old granny sitting with Gift under her shelter with nothing to eat. It was a great time as we gave them meal, a bucket of maize flour and groceries.
A new word came from Rose Diva and it was, “Thank you, God, for I have seen your love.”
Matthew 25:35 “For I was hungry, and you gave me food.”
