Whereas:
- Too many AC churches have been wounded or lost in recent days due to a local crisis of dissension or failed leadership
- During times of crisis individual churches often lack stability or leadership necessary to negotiate such difficulties
- Through the outside intervention of other caring believers, such losses could be minimized and relationships might experience reconciliation and healing
- Many churches in crisis may not avail themselves of remedial outside intervention simply due to lack of knowledge of such resources
- Our denominational structure has no formal mechanism to provide such intervention without direct invitation
- No prior formal direction or instruction regarding any official role of reconciliation has been adopted and published by the denomination
And Whereas:
- Whatever happens within one AC congregation reflects upon every AC congregation
And Whereas:
- The unity of the brotherhood was our Lord’s last recorded prayer request as he faced crucifixion and every effort by all Christian brothers should be employed to preserve this unity
Therefore:
Be it resolved that we, the delegate body of the Advent Christian General Conference, instruct the leaders of local churches, conferences, regions and the national office to take whatever initiative brotherly love demands in order to provide any resources or counsel that may lead to the preservation and restoration of any Advent Christian church in crisis.
Be It Further Resolved that any such efforts in good faith will be supported by the entire body of Advent Christians.
Furthermore,
Be It Resolved that we, as members of local churches, as well as delegates to the national Advent Christian General Conference, welcome and submit ourselves to such ministries of reconciliation and restoration in the event that our own churches experience a similar crisis.
