Mr. E. Joseph was a faithful servant of God whose life was a quiet yet enduring witness to devotion in Christ, humility and steadfast service. For decades, he served both the Mission and the Church with sincerity and diligence, leaving a legacy marked by faithfulness rather than recognition.

Mr. Joseph joined the American Advent Mission in India on July 15, 1964, at the age of 25, and served faithfully until his retirement on August 27, 2002. His commitment extended well beyond formal employment. He worked hard as a gardener for the Mission, and he resided on the Mission compound itself. He was known as someone who would willingly undertake any task entrusted to him.

In addition to his Mission responsibilities, Mr. Joseph served for many years as Sexton at the S. AC Church. Each Sunday morning, he and his family walked half an hour from the Mission compound to open the church and prepare it for worship, returning for weekday meetings as needed. He was a regular and committed church member who never missed a service and gave generously to church ministries, at times even contributing an entire month’s salary.

Mr. Joseph was well versed in Scripture and had an exceptional memory for God’s Word. He could recite chapters of the Bible and frequently preached in small groups and churches, even being called upon to preach in the absence of a pastor. He was actively involved in church life and was part of the early fellowship of believers at the church on the Mission compound. Over the years, he personally knew and worked alongside many missionaries who served at the compound, representing a living link to the Mission’s history.

He married Sister J on June 12, 1964, and together they raised two sons. He is survived by his children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and extended family. In his final days, Mr. Joseph expressed gratitude to each family member who cared for him, offering words of blessing and thanksgiving.

Mr. E. Joseph is remembered as a God-fearing man who lived a godly life, served faithfully and finished his course well. His life certainly reflected the words of Scripture: “Well done, good and faithful servant… Come and share your Master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:21)
