On November 8, Director of International Missions Jeff Walsh attended the memorial service for former missionary Luree Wotton at Bixler Chapel, Advent Christian Village. A beautiful memorial was conducted with five AC pastors participating in the service.

Luree was born on August 29, 1935. She was the first child of Chester and Evelyn Wotton with three siblings to follow. Childhood years were in Friendship, Maine, living in-town and attending Friendship AC Church. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age and was baptized in a lake outside of Camp Washington at age 12.

After high school, Luree attended New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston. This was followed by nearly three years with the Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky where she also learned to be a nurse-midwife. From there, she attended Aurora College in Illinois for another three years to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1963, Luree was commissioned as a career missionary to the Philippines under the American Advent Mission Society where she applied her nursing skills and was also an educator.

Upon returning to the U.S., she was employed by the Advent Christian Village where she worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. After retiring as a nurse, she served Advent Christian General Conference as Coordinator for Women’s Ministries. Due to health problems, Luree retired again and began volunteer work for the Village and the AC church, making it her own home in retirement.
