*This was the note included with North Park’s Penny Crusade donation
Sometimes in full-time ministry you wonder if donors get fatigued by your coming back to the well time and time again. You wonder if donors buy into the vision and have the same sense of urgency to complete the mission. I’m sure that the support of the vision ebbs and flows over the years, as with any other life cycle of events. However, today I want to testify that for North Park Community Church, this year’s Penny Crusade was a big “ask,” but it wasn’t a burden or a source of fatigue. In fact, it was just the opposite. It was a blessing. It provided an opportunity for our church to work toward a common goal.
Church members and visitors alike eagerly anticipated the weekly update of the traction toward our goal and collectively praised God and cheered when the numbers were revealed. Penny Crusade was a boost to our church community rather than a burden. We set a modest goal of $3,000 thinking we could reach that fairly easily with a little help, but actually hoping to raise $4,000. Well, today, with humble pride, the North Park Community Advent Christian Church people present our offering of $7,000 for Penny Crusade. Thank you for the opportunity to watch God work through this venue to bring our lives closer together as a body of Christ. Press on!
