In February 2025, Erwin, Chipay and I traveled to Papua New Guinea (PNG) with Agape House Ministries. This trip was filled with God’s provision, protection and power at work and I want to share the many ways we saw his faithfulness unfold.
Answered Prayers in Preparation
Before we even set foot in PNG, we had much to be thankful for. Our e-visas were granted smoothly, allowing us to travel without additional documentation hurdles. This was a huge relief, especially considering the struggles our hosts, Mondo and Nancy, faced in renewing their passports. We also thank the Lord for safe travels, good health and all our needs being met throughout the trip.
Arrival and Worship in Bulolo
On February 8th, Erwin and I landed in Lae, joining Chipay who was already there. After a quick grocery stop, we traveled to Bulolo, where we were blessed with the free use of a 4-wheel vehicle provided by a church member. Our stay at the National Forestry Guest House was another testimony of God’s provision.
The next day, I preached at our worship service, sharing this year’s Agape House theme: RESTORATION. We reflected on God’s power to restore through the book of Joel. After the service, we distributed sanitary pads to the ladies, a gift from our WHFMS partners. Their joy and gratitude reminded us how essential this project is.
Medical Clinics Across PNG
Monday marked the start of our medical clinics and we were met with fine weather, allowing us to serve effectively. Over the course of the week, we provided medical care, vitamins, reading glasses and meals to 548 patients across multiple villages:
- Mankitawa (Monday): 122 patients. Erwin cooked porridge for the children while teaching local men and women how to prepare it.
- Nauti Village (Tuesday): 80 patients. This is a new outreach for Mondo and Nancy and we pray for provision to build a church structure here.
- Society Village (Wednesday): 160 patients. More vitamins, reading glasses and food were distributed.
- Wampit (Friday): 186 patients. This was our final clinic before heading back to Lae.
Throughout the clinics, we saw severe cases including newborns, pregnant women and individuals with chronic conditions. Without a doctor on hand, we encouraged them to seek medical care while praying and declaring Christ as our Great Physician. Many children suffered from bloated stomachs, highlighting the need for deworming medication on our next trip.
Leadership Training and Vision Casting
Thursday was dedicated to discipleship training and leadership meetings. About 30 church workers and potential planters gathered as we introduced new discipleship materials from Navigators. Many of those we served were non-churchgoers, making this an incredible outreach opportunity.
After the meeting, we joined a farewell celebration, experiencing traditional “mumu” cooking, where food is prepared using heated stones. Community leaders expressed their gratitude for the services we provided, recognizing God’s hand in our work.
A Vision for PNG
Before leaving, we visited newly purchased land in downtown Bulolo — 6.3 hectares (about 15.5 acres) dedicated to Agape House’s future ministries including an orphanage, retirement home for pastors, a missions house and a school. Mondo and Nancy envision planting Agape House in every province across PNG. They also hope to establish a business – perhaps a restaurant – to support the ministry.
Gratitude for Supporters
This mission would not have been possible without our faithful supporters:
- ACGC family for prayers and financial support
- WHFMS for sanitary pads and financial assistance for Chipay’s travel
- Samaritan’s Purse for medical supply donations
- Hakata Agape House for helping with reading glasses
- American Chatter Box and Faith Bible Church for sponsoring meals for our medical clinic patients
Returning Home
After wrapping up our final clinic in Wampit, we made our way back to Lae, where we spent two nights before flying home. The journey back to Davao was smooth and we reflected on God’s incredible work throughout the trip.
Our hearts are full of gratitude for how God moved during this mission. We saw his provision in every detail and were reminded of his faithfulness.
