Political Rights (1981-29)
Whereas a growing factor in American political life is religiously motivated political action groups; and
Whereas these groups are increasingly taking absolute stands on issues on which there is no final word from Scripture;
Be it Resolved that this delegate body applaud the rising awareness that the Gospel and the lordship of Christ have social and political implications, we also recognize that the Gospel of Jesus Christ must not be bound to any single political philosophy, program, party, or leader; and
Be it Further Resolved that Advent Christians be encouraged to exercise their political rights based on their personal Christian consciences and the merits of each individual issue.
