THAILAND – Recently, Pohn Yoon (part-time missionary to Thailand) gave a presentation to a Women’s Home & Foreign Mission Society group in Florida. At that meeting, she shared this story.
Pohn has a friend named Wayo, someone she worked alongside in a factory in Bangkok, Thailand. They hadn’t seen each other in 25 years, though Pohn often thought about her and wondered how she was doing. Then one day, scrolling through Facebook, she spotted Wayo’s profile and decided to reach out. What a blessing that reconnection turned out to be! During their conversation, Wayo shared that her husband, Moo, is dying from stage four cancer and is staying with his family so they can care for him.
For the past two years, Pohn has been very active in an online Thai women’s group through Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). Some of the women are longtime U.S. residents, while many still live in Thailand. As Pohn learned about Moo’s situation, God placed a heavy burden on her heart, filling her with deep, personal concern for him. She prayed faithfully and reached out to a BSF leader, asking for help in connecting with a local pastor in Thailand who could visit Moo and pray for his salvation. A pastor living about an hour away was contacted and, not long after, visited Moo. During that visit, the pastor prayed with him, and Moo accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior right away. Moo’s spirit was lifted, and even his energy returned. Praise the Lord!
The Yoon family plans to visit Thailand next summer.
