“Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you,” (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
I am always humbled and thankful for the support and encouragement we receive here at ACGC. Kind words and heartfelt thanks mean so much to us. The financial support we receive from our churches and individual donors is, of course, necessary, but it strengthens us to be entrusted with these valuable resources. However, the thing that means the most is your prayers.
Missionary pioneer Hudson Taylor said, “When we work, we work. When we pray, God works.” As much as your generous giving is needed to accomplish the work set before us, and as heartening as your words of encouragement can be, without the Lord’s working in and through us, it is all in vain (Psalm 127:1). May is Prayer Emphasis Month (To find out more click here). So, I’d like to ask a favor – will you please pray for the staff of ACGC every day in the month of May? If you will, I’d like to ask you to pray for some very specific things:
- Wisdom – Please pray the Lord will grant us the wisdom and discernment to know the best opportunities to pursue and the most effective ways we can serve our churches and pastors.
- Faith – Pray that we will think and act from a posture of faith in the Lord and not from fear of man, of loss or of failure.
- Provision – Pray the Lord will provide exactly what we need to do the work he has set before us and that we will be good and faithful stewards of what is entrusted to us.
- Character – Please pray the Father will work through his Spirit in each person on our team to conform us to the image and likeness of his Son in our attitudes, actions and affections – that we might be holy as he is holy.
- Priorities – Please pray that our decision making is always filtered through the lens of Scripture and that we are sensitive and obedient to the Spirit’s leading and direction.
- Strength – Please pray that the Lord will give us the daily strength we need physically, emotionally and spiritually to be good stewards of his resources and good servants of his church.
