Pastor Appreciation - October

Honor your pastor in the month of October

For some time now, October has been set aside as Pastor Appreciation Month, a month to celebrate and thank our pastors for all of their selfless service to our churches. Each year, churches across the denomination show appreciation for their pastors in a variety of ways: monetary gifts, acts of service to the pastor, special meals and other kinds of gifts intended to express just how much our pastors mean to us. If your church does something already, we want to encourage you to continue. If not, we’ve included a guide to help you with ideas for this year.

In addition, we’d like to ask you to have your entire church do something that costs very little but will be extremely meaningful. It can be easy to forget how much our pastors sacrifice as they serve us, so…

This year, we’re asking that every member of your church pause and reflect on some special way your pastor has ministered to them in the last year, and then write a note of thanks.

This note should be both personal and specific. Thank your pastor for a specific time in which you were ministered to through your pastor’s preaching or teaching. Perhaps you’re reminded of a difficult event in your life in which your pastor ministered to you in a comforting or healing way, or maybe you recall a word of encouragement that was offered. Maybe you were challenged or inspired by a display of Christlike character or attitude you observed. Reflecting on these things will help you realize just how valuable your pastors is, and writing a note of thanks will mean more than you can imagine.

However you celebrate the life, ministry and sacrifice of your pastor during Pastor Appreciation Month, we pray you do so with love and generosity.

We’ve created a flyer for you to send to all your church members encouraging them to write a special note of thanks and maybe add something a little extra to their card. Request free color copies of this letter below.
