Washburn – Rev. Kenneth L Fox, 97, passed away peacefully April 29, 2024, surrounded by family and his new friends at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou. Ken was married to Verdella Carter Fox, who predeceased him in 2021 after 73 years of marriage.

Ken leaves behind a legacy of kindness, good humor and solid faith in his relationship with his Lord and Savior. He and Verdie dedicated their lives to their family and their church families. He was proud of his peace-time military service, which took him abroad to Italy for an adventure. Later in life he and Mom enjoyed several bus trips to visit family in Florida and Texas, and re-reading Mom’s journal notes of one of those journeys was a favorite pastime.

Ken proudly kept a record of the weddings, funerals and baptisms that he officiated. From 1972 through 2015, he performed 170 weddings, 258 funerals and committals, 116 baptisms. We referred to that list many times as we reminisced and needed help with names to match the memories.

Ken is survived by his 3 children, Larry (Sylvia) Fox, Curt (Debbie) Fox and Charlotte (Art) Griffin, who consider themselves blessed for their wonderful childhood and parents. Grandchildren Brad, Elliot, Chris, Mike, Rebecca and Abby, and seven great-grandchildren added to the fun in his life. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Carolyn McLaughlin.

Ken was also predeceased by his parents Stanley and Charlotte “Lottie” Fox, sister Avis and her husband Garth Story, brother Harry and his first wife Shirley Fox. In-laws Earl and Abbie Carter, sister-in-law Betty and Ron Wright, brothers-in-law Alden and Clayton Carter and sweet daughter-in-law Cathy Giggey Fox, who left us far too soon.

Ken’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful people that made his life the excellent journey that it truly was. Special thanks to his Oxbow and West Chapman church families, his great neighbors, and the wonderful staff members of the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou, where he resided the final 3 months of his blessed life. He surely left a smile on many of your faces…he was that kind of guy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4 at Duncan Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle, Maine. Visitation from 10 AM until service time at noon. Pastor Nathan Gardiner will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to West Chapman AC Church (PO Box 194 Mapleton, Maine 04757).
