Roxanna Tate Sieber

Roxanna fell asleep in Christ Jesus at 3:45 p.m. on January 18, 2015, at the hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, following a fall on her way to the Villisca Advent Christian Church that morning. Roxanna was 69 years old. She awaits her Lord’s return.

Roxanna was born in Villisca, Iowa, to Rev. Joe Tom and Velma Bowden Tate on October 29, 1945. She graduated from Aurora College, Aurora, Ill., in 1967, with a degree in Social Science, and Bible and Religion. Roxanna began her career in banking in Massachusetts and then in Florida where she met and married Frederick Sieber. Following her divorce, she returned to live in Villisca with her son. Roxanna enjoyed needlework and so she started her own counted cross-stitch company. Over the years, Roxanna worked in programs to aid people to establish their own businesses in Southwest Iowa, as a reporter for the “Villisca Review,” and most recently with the Villisca Economic Developer Initiative. She also served on the board of Pensions for the Advent Christian Denomination.

Roxanna strongly believed in the biblical principle that everything that one does should be done as an offering to the Lord. She followed that principle in her everyday work and as a faithful member of the Villisca Advent Christian Church. Over the years she served God in the church on committees, boards, through youth work, study groups, and wherever else the Lord led her. She loved her family, her church family, her community, and the friends she made over her lifetime. Above all, she deeply loved Jesus and desired to honor him with her life.

Roxanna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Frederic D. Sieber and his fiancée, Ellice Campbell, and their two sons, Jacob and Jeremiah, whom Roxanna greatly loved; her older sister, Margaret “Peggy” Paxton and her husband Harold; her younger brother, Rev. Barry Joe Tate and his wife, Janet; her nephews Hal Paxton, Philip Paxton, Joel Tate and his wife, Christine, John Tate and his wife, Lisa, Josh Tate and his wife, Sarah, Job Tate and his wife, Lisa, Carolyn Tate and her husband, Neil Burrows; and 12 great nieces and nephews.
