Central Region Triennial Convention

Justin Nash, Executive Director

OHIO — June 26–28, Mike Alix and I were privileged to be part of the Central Advent Christian Mission Society (CACMS) Triennial Convention, themed “What Does the Lord Require of Us?” The convention was hosted by the Ohio Advent Christian Conference in Marysville, Ohio.

The CACMS board met Thursday, and the convention officially began Friday morning with the business meeting of the Central Region WHFMS. These meetings, led by President Robin Wood, were followed by lunch and a video call with ACGC WHFMS Coordinator Faye Richards.

Friday afternoon featured two workshops. Pastor Nathan Rogers of Brays Advent Christian Church in Iberia, Missouri, led a workshop at Claiborne Advent Christian Church titled “Identity Crisis: Unmasking Your True Self.” I had the opportunity to lead a workshop at a nearby facility provided by the Stillings family. The workshops were then repeated so participants could attend both.

Following the workshops, a meal was provided at the Stillings family facility, which also featured a performance by a worship band. I then had the honor of preaching a message from Micah 6:8, the event’s theme verse.

Saturday morning featured the triennial delegates’ business meeting. Mike opened the session with a devotion and prayer. Among the business conducted was the election of regional officers. The Rev. Ray Bezanson was reelected president; Traci Crouse, vice president; Sandy Johnson, secretary; and Elaine Norwood, treasurer.

Kathy Woolfington completed her nine-year term as the Central Region representative to the ACGC Executive Council. We are deeply grateful for Kathy’s contributions during her time of service. While we will miss her, we are also excited that Judy Stone was elected as the new representative to the Executive Council.

Sunday morning, I had the privilege of worshiping with Pastor Todd Stillings and the church family at Claiborne Advent Christian Church. I am deeply grateful for their hospitality and kindness. These few days in Ohio gave me the opportunity to deepen existing friendships and nurture new ones. There were many fruitful and edifying conversations, and it was a joy to hear how the Lord is working through Advent Christian churches in the Central Region.

Thank you to Bill and Elaine Norwood for working so hard to put on a great event and for allowing us to be part of it.

One Response

  1. I also attended as a delagate for the Prairie State Conference. It was a wonderful experience & it was great to be able to put faces to the names I’m always hearing. I enjoyed both sessions of the workishops. Thanks to the current board of CACMS for stepping up & volunteering. Judy Stone also serves as a rep on the PSC board. The Claiborne church did a wonderful job hosting. I think I can say, ” good time was had by all”.
