David Michael Rhodes, 56, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on August 1, 2026, after living for some time with coronary artery disease. He was born on January 17, 1970, in Norfolk, Virginia. Throughout his illness, Mike remained steadfast in his faith and devoted to those around him.
Throughout his life, Mike faithfully served others through his work, ministry, and music. He spent 20 years as an over-the-road truck driver, traveling countless miles across the country. He also answered a call to ministry, serving as a pastor for seven years and offering spiritual guidance, encouragement, and compassion to those in his care.
Music was an important part of Mike’s life and faith. For 25 years, he shared his gift as a pianist with a Southern Gospel group, blessing many through songs of hope and worship.
Mike was a devoted member of Castle Hayne Christian Fellowship, where he found a loving spiritual home and a treasured church family.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Herman Leon Rhodes; his mother, Carolyn Rhodes (DeBose); and his sister, Patricia Kay Rhodes.
He is survived by his biological father, Oscar Turlington, and his wife, Lynn; and his uncle, Kelly Lacy, and his wife, Lisa. He also leaves behind his cherished church family and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Castle Hayne Christian Fellowship on Saturday, August 22, 2026, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Mike will be remembered for his steadfast faith, enduring spirit, dedication to his work and ministry, and the kindness and love he shared with his family, friends, and community. His music, guidance, and faithful example will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
