As we prepare for the Triennial Convention and consider weighty matters about our future, let’s not forget to celebrate what God is doing among us right now. I can attest: it’s been a fruitful summer in the App Region.

Campalachian, our regional youth camp in Blowing Rock, N.C., continues to be an important part of our discipleship pipeline. Adult staff invest in younger counselors, who do the same for campers, and that investment spills into conference youth camps across the region.
After camp concluded, I spoke with one camper who had never attended a Christian camp before. She told me she had never experienced anything like it in her life. She was beaming.
Even though it rained a lot, that didn’t dampen the campers’ enthusiasm for God’s Word, something I witnessed firsthand at Family Camp.
Family Camp is open to all ages. Historically, participants have been mostly adults. This year, however, nearly half the campers were children or teenagers.

I was assigned to teach the adult and teen Bible classes. The teens were seated with their Bibles open before I arrived for every session. They asked thoughtful questions and filled their notebooks with notes. Be encouraged! This emerging generation is seeking the Lord in his Word in a way I haven’t seen before.
We capped off Family Camp with our WHFMS and regional annual meetings on Friday and Saturday, both of which went well.
One highlight I’m especially excited about: we approved a streamlined process for administering our ministry school loan fund. Now we’re ready to spread the word that we have multiple ways to help prospective pastors afford theological and ministry training.
We have so much to be grateful for. Let’s finish the summer well and keep praising God along the way.
