Each delegate at the Triennial Convention will cast a vote for the open seats of the 2026 Executive Council, who will provide leadership and representation for the Advent Christian General Conference. The office of president and recording secretary are three-year terms while the member-at-large is a nine-year term.
Below is the report of the nominating committee to be presented as the official ballot to the delegate body at Triennial Convention this August.
President
John Tate – A lifelong Advent Christian, John has had the pleasure of pastoring churches in New England, the Deep South, and the Desert Southwest. In his thirty years of ministry, John has served as a youth pastor, a house church planter and a senior pastor. Along the way, he’s served as a conference president, a regional vice president, and in a number of other denominational roles. Married to Lisa, they have three children, Bryn, Ingrid and Brooks.
Recording Secretary
RaeAnn McCune is from the Union View Advent Christian Church where she is fulfilling the board position of clerk for the second year. She is passionate about serving Christ as a representative of her church which has led to her accepting administrative duties such as secretary for the Camp ACCOVAC board. Growing up in the AC Church has given her a deep appreciation for the community and family that comes with the church and as a result she loves participating in any form of Christian gathering. This is something she strives to share with others.
Matthew Rice serves as Pastor of Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church in Charlotte, NC. He is a graduate of the Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and serves as the Year Two Coordinator for the Ministry Training Institute. He has a passion for proclaiming Christ from his Word and equipping the saints to serve the local church. Matt is married to his wife, Jessica, and together they are loving parenthood with their daughter Nelda.
Member-At-Large
Heath Simpson serves as the senior pastor at Advent Community Church in Mechanicsville, VA. Before arriving in Mechanicsville in 2011, he grew up in Long’s Grove Advent Christian in Monroe, NC; and served on staff at First Advent Christian Church in Lenoir, NC from 2007-2011. He and his wife, Jody, have two wonderful children, Amandolyn and Cameron.
