Relief Efforts After Earthquake

Catherine Rybicki

In June, missionaries Erwin and Rowena Cabrizos joined many others in offering relief after the Philippines were struck by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that caused widespread devastation.

Along with other Agape House members, they first partnered with a local church to minister to those in the community who were impacted by the earthquake. The church served as the gathering spot where they could distribute materials to those in need.

The second stop in this crisis relief effort was in a community where many homes were destroyed. They went door to door, distributing goods and aid to those who had lost so much.

Later in the month, Rowena challenged everyone during Agape House’s church service in Mati. She shared a message from the story of the widow’s offering in Mark 12:41-44. In a touching moment, the children of the orphanage came forward and made an offering of coins. The children said, “We wanted to help the earthquake victims through this offering.”

Praise the Lord for these children who took a step of faith to help others when they themselves had so little to offer in assistance.

The Cabrizoses thank God for the success of these relief efforts, and his traveling mercies on the long journey.
