Western Region Welcomes Two New Superintendents

The Western Advent Christian Association (WACA) has called two new regional superintendents to serve the churches of the Western Region. The appointments were affirmed by vote in March, and both men began their responsibilities on April 1.

The Advent Christian denomination is made up of five regions across the United States, with the Western Region encompassing churches in California, Oregon and Washington.

Dan Harrel will serve as Western Regional Superintendent – North, working primarily with the six churches in Oregon and Washington. Dan has served as lead pastor of Thompson Road Bible Fellowship in Milwaukie, Oregon for nearly 15 years, following earlier roles as associate and youth pastor. He has also served in a number of leadership positions within the denomination, including conference president, vice president and Western Region vice president. A lifelong Advent Christian, Dan brings a broad range of ministry experience and a desire to see believers growing in Christ and using their gifts in the life of the church.

Brad Rigney will serve as Western Regional Superintendent – South, supporting the eight churches in California. Brad has more than 40 years of ministry experience, including 38 years in full-time pastoral leadership. He has served churches in California and New Mexico and has been the pastor of North Park Community Church in San Diego since 2003. Brad has also previously served as superintendent for California churches and brings a wealth of experience, pastoral care and long-standing relationships across the region.

In their roles, both men will focus on encouraging and supporting pastors, strengthening churches and fostering unity across the region. They will also assist with pastoral searches and serve as a connection point between local congregations and the broader denomination.

Both Dan and Brad will continue serving as pastors in their local churches while taking on these additional responsibilities.

Please join us in welcoming these men to their new roles and in praying for them as they serve the churches of the Western Region.
