Camp ACCOVAC’s 2026 Family Camp brought Virginia Conference families and leaders together for a joyful time of worship, fellowship and family fun. I was honored to share three chapel messages centered on Jesus as the only one who satisfies — exploring Christ’s care for wandering hearts in Psalm 107, his promise of eternal satisfaction in John 6 and his invitation to all who thirst in John 4. Patrick Warren also led us in encouraging worship through music.

Beyond chapel, families enjoyed great food, meaningful conversations, hikes, a low-ropes course and a zip line that my son especially enjoyed. Although we did not make it far in the cornhole tournament, the friendly competition, pumpkin carving and shared activities made for a memorable week. Above all, the warm hospitality and family-like atmosphere at Camp ACCOVAC stood out. Carolyn Haynes, of the Waynesboro Church, was honored with a plaque and dedication of Cabin 6, built by the Waynesboro Church, for her service as to the camp since the 1970s. It was also a privilege to recognize and thank the Jones family as they stepped down following many years of faithful service as caretakers.
